bay area-born Myles marquez,("mylesie") is a filipino-american musician in the midst of finding his own way. initially inspired by the accessible charm of the bedroom pop genre, mylesie sought to add to the conversation while being as open and honest as possible.

at first, music acted as points for mylesie to keep track of his fast-changing life. early releases we've grown (2018) and peach mango pie (2019) are imbued with memories of car rides with friends and late-night talks with high school crushes. these simple, dreamy electronic-piano based tunes are at first what made mylesie, mylesie.

However, after moving to college, everything changed.

overrun with the shocking change that came with friends racing off in different directions, unfamiliar faces, and the general feeling of being alone, mylesie's music direction changed dramatically. Enter LILAC (2021*). To mylesie, lilac is an interpretation of the inevitability of change. Spending a great deal of additional time on refining a completely new sound, mylesie seeks to shift away from the simplicity of his earlier works and deliver a musical story that embraces layered guitars, pounding drums, and swelling orchestras while still retaining that warm, familiar mylesie feel.

we've grown

We've grown (2018) is mylesie's first public exploration into music. Stemming from highschool feelings of love and growth, mylesie's first project, though juvenile in nature, remains a defining stepping stone for the directions in which his further projects will take.

Ditching emotional barriers in favor of just saying what he feels, Mylesie delivers and embraces a bashful, amateurish, yet honest exclamation of love during a point in his life in which nothing else mattered.

peach mango pie

Mylesie's next project, 4-song EP Peach Mango pie (2019) begins mylesie down a new path of self-discovery within music. With his sights set on a new, abstract form of storytelling, Mylesie chose to hone the skills he had at the time and find out just how far he was willing to go both sonically and emotionally.

As he's grown older, Mylesie looks back at peach mango pie with the same "sentimental embarrassment" as one would look back on their young teen years. Nevertheless, peach mango pie remains as the final glimpse of the sensitive, clumsy, loving high schooler just making music for his friends to listen to.
